Since we began in 1976, the English Department of Malaysia Bible Seminary (MBS) has counted it a joy to see many of its graduates now serving the Lord faithfully in pastoral ministry and in missions.
It remains our steadfast desire to train and equip Christians, whether laypeople or serving full-time workers, for Kingdom ministry. We seek to provide accessible theological and practical ministry training that is affordable and also realistic for the busy schedules many of us find ourselves in. As such, the English Department has begun to re-strategise its approach to formal ministry training by seeking partnerships with Malaysian churches to bring training programmes to the community.
We have begun this with our Master of Ministry (M. Min.) programme which is aimed at pastoral staff and lay leaders who need to upgrade their skills and qualifications. The M. Min. programme is practically-oriented based on sound biblical and theological foundations. Given the trend for many lay leaders to enter ministry without much training or preparation, the M. Min. is useful for any leader who has served for a period of time and who feels the need to go deeper in enhancing their Bible knowledge, pastoral, leadership, preaching, teaching and counselling skills.
The M. Min. is feasible for working people to complete because of its flexible schedule. One local church has partnered with us to make the M. Min. accessible by bringing the training to people. We are grateful to the Damansara Utama Methodist Church’s Advanced School of Leadership, which is helping us host and conduct modular classes for the M. Min. programme at their church premises in Petaling Jaya. Do find out more about the flexible course schedule and course content here.
We also have residential students pursuing certificate, diploma, Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes at our campus in Kuang, Selangor. The 10-acre campus provides them a beautiful and calm environment for quiet study, reflection and refreshment. If you are considering a mid-career break to take up theological studies and ministry training, or just to develop your personal growth through Scripture, why not plan a visit to our campus to find out more?
As Christians, we all believe in the transforming power of Scripture to save and change lives. How much more will a solid grounding in theology and biblical studies transform the way pastors and leaders preach, teach and live the Bible for even greater impact in the Kingdom.
We invite you to prayerfully consider us as part of your preparation for ministry. Or if you want to explore a genuine partnership with us to meet your church’s training and teaching needs, do contact me.
