New Testament Introduction II

Description: This course is a continuation of New Testament Introduction I, which provides an understanding of the history and background to the New Testament and a survey of the Gospels and Acts. New Testament Introduction II introduces the New Testament books from Romans to Revelation. It surveys the context, purpose and theological message of the books as well as the background and development of the early church.
Dr. Fritz Deininger (Th.D. in New Testament, University of South Africa, Th.M. New Testament Theology, M.A. in Missiology Columbia International University, B.A. Theological Seminary Chrischona) serves as Coordinator of the ICETE Programme for Academic Leadership (IPAL). Together with his wife they served in Thailand from 1981 to 2008 in church planting, leadership training, and theological education. At Bangkok Bible Seminary he gained leadership experience in theological education as academic dean. From 2011 – 2013 he served as an associate professor of Columbia International University (CIU). He teaches some courses at the Academy for World Mission in Germany.
Areas of interest include leadership development, integrated theological education, spiritual formation, Bible exposition, NT studies, world religions, world missions, contemporary issues, and ethics.

Soul Care: The Art and Science of Spiritual Direction

Description: This course defines spiritual direction and its role in spiritual formation and transformation. It looks at the biblical and theological foundations of spiritual formation as well as from a psycho-spiritual perspective. It covers aspects of soul care such as discipling, mentoring, coaching and counseling, as well the arts of listening and discernment. By the end of the course, students will learn about developing a basis for Christian spiritual formation, understand psycho-spiritual dynamics, cultivate discernment and chart spiritual direction.
